They have what, 1 of their first round picks in the last 10 years playing for the club?

I'd start there.

Oh, and Bergeron, him too..

First off Karine, let me say I so appreciate your musings about the Habs. They are consistent and help us get through this. And even though I more often than not agree with your point of view, roasting Bergevin for dealing Shaw is a bit off base. Selling high is what we want Bergevin to be doing. It's not as if Shaw is a sniper that needed to be replaced. Even a casual fan knew Shaw was a half decent wack away from serious problems. And that did indeed manifest itself. Who knows if the guy plays again? I know Habs fans are running low on patience. But at least now we have a pipeline. Not to mention fourteen more selections in this years entry draft. Some of these picks will not work out. But some may. Nobody knows. But you don't get no hits if you don't swing the bat. It took Bergevin time to figure out we will have to improve through the draft. I'm willing to blow off his first few years as a learning curve. At least let him and Julien finish out their deals. My two cents

Shaw was 1 concussion away from becoming a vegetable. Good on Bergevin for banking on him while he still had value.

I'm not roasting him for trading Shaw, I even say he was right to do so. The problem is that it created a hole in the line-up and his production was not replaced. I was amazed that a team came knocking to get him...trade him for picks fine but you need something to replace him in the line-up if you intend on being competitive and Bergevin intends to be every year...or so he tells us. I feel like he traded Shaw thinking that roster spot would be filled by Aho but then he made that half arsed offer sheet attempt and when it didn't work, he didn't try to find a plan B there lies the problem.
